When I grow up I want to be rich so that I can help the poor move on up.

"When I heard what happened I just started to cry. I really like him and still do. Can you please send me some pictures of him. I'll sleep with his picture under my bed. I will miss him. Love you all.

" My heart is deeply sadden by the loss of Maurice. Hew as wonderful young man, with a beautiful smile, whom I enjoyed getting to know as a person and student. I remember the last day of school when he you guys were leaving for Germany, he turned and flashed me one more big smile. I will always cherish that smile".
Debbie Newman 6th grade Reading Teacher Mahaffey Middle School, (Fort Campbell, KY)

"Chief, I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Maurice all that well, but I do remember him coming into the office a few times and I remember you talking about him a lot. From the way you spoke of him, I could tell that you loved him and was very proud of him. A lot of fathers hide their feelings, but you had always made it known that your family came first. I admire you for that and I hope that someday I can be that kind of father that you are to your children. I am sure your son knew how much he was loved".
Jason Sayre Akron, Ohio

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Long. I am truly sorry about what happen to Maurice. I was shocked to hear what happen. We were friends and use to ride bikes all around Fort Campbell. He was a fun person to be around. He was not like other kids I knew, all they wanted to do was get in trouble. I would walk over to his house and play basketball. That is all I have to say, see you later and God Bless".
Maurice Friend Darius Childs Fort Campbell, KY

"Alex and Tomas are very sad because was like a brother. We will miss him. Pleas let us know when the funeral in Kentucky will be, we will be there".

"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Long, I just wanted to let you know that everything will be alright. You are always in my parents hearts and you always are always in my heart. I'm always thinking about Maurice. Maurice was my best friend. Almost everyday Maurice and I played and on other days we would go to my house and watch Army movies and play conflict desert storm on the PS2 at Dexter's house. Maurice and I had fun together and playing tricks on James. Maurice will always be in my mind and my heart. May God bless you, keep you and give you strength in your time of sorrow".
